REZ HD

Just downloaded Rez HD on Xbox Live.

Tal Blevins, VP of Games Content at IGN: "This is the perfect game for stoners."

I would have to agree.

a week away..

And what a week it's been. I haven't had work all week so here's the highlights of how i've kept myself busy.

- Re-watching Lost season 3 prepping for this Thursday's premiere of season 4.
- Got the newest issue of Game Informer. Resistance 2 might be the only reason besides MGS4 to get a PS3. 60 player online.
- Went to the Queens mall. Mind melted. Stomach ruined.
- Saw Cloverfield. Liked the monster (spoiler), hated the people (spoiler).
- Got addicted to "escape room" room games.
- Relieved my addiction to "escape room" games when my R4 chip came in the mail.
- Could not find dill potato chips anywhere.
- Saw End Of A Year twice on Saturday. Both times were excellent.
- Went to bingo at the Mark Bar. Usually i hate shit like this but it ruled. Funny host and i won a $15 bar tab which was used immediately.
- Finally played Guitar Hero 3.
- Starting watching V the original mini series and V the final conflict. Incredible.
- Began reading Jem by Frederik Pohl. so far so good.
- Went to Mitsuwa and spent to much on junk food.
- Came across The Book Of Beings.

and that's pretty much the bulk of it.

Trooper Fashion

IGN posted an article about all the styles of the Stormtrooper, from Episode II to Episode VI. It's a nice summary of the Troopers and their evolution. I stare at the Stromtrooper helmet shaped mug on my desk everyday and ponder the things they've all been through.

Yoga Salad

I've been working on this webpage for Yoga Salad. It's a health and well-being website geared towards better, greener, healthier living through nutrition, exercise and education. Based in California, they offer private and group classes in Yoga and Wellness Coaching. There are a few pieces still being worked on but have a look.

Pushead!

I was just reading the Toybot studios blog and came across this amazing toy which is a collaboration between Pushead and Secret Base. "Skull Captain" is amazingly detailed and looks like he just jumped off a Metallica record cover. A great thing about Toybot is the amazing photos they take of the toys the post about, lots of angles and lots of detail shots. check out their site for more info on "Skull Captain" as well as the other links below.

Renegade

This christmas my dad, using his hawk eye ebay skills, scored a 1986 Taito Renegade arcade machine in working condition, for only 150 bucks. It's truly a beautiful thing. If you unfamiliar with this game it's 5 levels of brutal street fighting action. It was the predecessor to Double Dragon it plays like a more basic version of it, although you do have the ability to jump on a downed enemy and pummel their face. Each of the five levels are broken into three screens, where as in Double Dragon you would progress through several screens to the end, Renegade keeps you in these three screens which act as more of an arena for the battle. The 4th stage, set outside the HQ of the final boss, has you up against several knife wielding, suit wearing bald bad guys. If any of these guys get's you it's a one hit kill.

As brilliant as this game is and as much as I love it, my plan is to turn this into a mame cabinet. I'm hoping i can keep the Renegade game still housed inside the cabinet along with a PC. I'll be sure to post as soon as i get that project underway.

I Wanna Be The Guy

This game came out a little while ago but is still well worth mentioning. "I Wanna Be The Guy" is in a way a tribute to several 8-bit classics. The one thing that should said about this game is that it is in no way a walk in the park. It does everything it can do degrade you as a human. Within seconds you'll surely die a bloody death. Watch the video above and check out the game for your self. It may seem simple, but it certainly took alot of skill and time to make. It's always throwing something new and clever at you on each screen. As soon as i can get Windows running on my mac i'm sure i'll be screaming like a child and smashing the keyboard in anger.

The World of Star Wars

Yahoo has recently launched The World of Star Wars. A one stop website for everything Star Wars. Theres tons of official news and content and fan videos and photos. You can also create a profile and the more you participate in the site the more your level ranking goes up. How you benefit from your level, outside of bragging rights, I'm unsure of. There is even a Star Wars Yahoo messenger, so you can finally chat with the Sarlacc pit. Dreams do come true.

LOMO

I recently got a Lomo L-CA camera off of e-bay. It's an old Russian range-finder camera made popular by Lomography.com, Whom now reproduce the item (with the title L-CA+). It's a nice, strudy little range finder thats easy to carry and use. The best feature on it though is the lens. It's coated in a way to make colors pop and it's fairly wide. You can buy one easily through Lomography.com or use your internerd skills and search out the russian orginal, both are awesome.
